Blue pill or the red pill

Watching the film, I think we all understand that the matrix is a network. And you had to take a pill to tap into it. Many of my friends (and especially my wife) think that I took a pill or sipped the kool-aid at one of my networks/cults. I won’t argue with you that I may have fallen down the rabbit-hole.

For the last ten years, I have been a member of BNI. This networking tool and word of mouth marketing has more than kept my company afloat. Many of the professionals in my chapter have dispensed weekly nuggets of wisdom for years on how to be a better entrepreneur. Right now it looks a little rough out there, so it’s good to hear about everyday people who are keeping their heads and making things happen. Here are a few things I heard and learned on Wednesday from my colleagues:

The moving and storage company has Long Island storage facilities for those who do not want to store their stuff in the main Brooklyn warehouse.

The massage therapist is offering 30 minute sessions for the holidays only at $40 a pop. That is a holiday bargain.

The banker got another new client because a big bank stopped that client’s business credit line and their home equity.

The mortgage broker said that lending rules will be changing in the consumer’s favor on Friday.  If you have paperwork in the pipeline, try to delay until then.

The Italian Cultural Entrepreneur just got back from the family estate in Calabria and that delicious olive oil is here.  Get those orders in.

The promo items guy said that there were a couple of misperceptions about printing jobs.  His company can do small quantities and can turn things around in 5 biz days.

The psychotherapist informed us that he will work on a short term basis.  He can do certain patients in six months or 20 sessions.

The group health/life/disability/long term care insurance person just saved a law firm $175K in group health.

The guy who does title insurance worked on 3 deals this week, courtesy of the real estate lawyer in the group.

I referred a colleague to the general contractor in the group. My friend wants to do some renovating and he was unhappy with the last guy who worked on the house.

I referred a buddy to the telephone bill reduction company to sort out some errors and overcharges on his phone bills.  Who doesn’t want to save money?

I also brought a guest, who may join our chapter.

Not bad for December, which seems like the time when everyone turns off their networking senses.
